Byron has served in the United States Army from 1988 to 2016. He earned a B.S in Business Administration from Tarleton State University in 2004 and an M.B.A. from Webster University in 2009 while stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He is currently a member of Metro Tex Association of Realtors, Lifetime member with American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars. Byron also serves on The State of Texas Committee to Support the Military.
