Sherry Matina, association executive for the Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS®, was awarded the 2006 Tom D. Morton Award for Top Association Executive of the Year. The winner was announced Monday at the state association's Winter Meeting awards ceremony in Austin.

Matina was honored for 10 years of dedicated service to the real estate industry and for promoting the positive image of REALTORS® in the Greater Fort Worth community. Among her many accomplishments, Matina created alliances with area groups for the good of her community. She increased the effectiveness of new-member orientation and promoted Realtor participation in neighborhood associations and local precincts. She also spearheaded GFWAR's strong focus on technology, ultimately better serving the needs of Realtor members and their clients.

"The Texas Association of REALTORS® is honored to have Sherry Matina on our team," said Avis Wukasch, chairman of the Texas Association of REALTORS®. "She personifies the leadership and high standards set by Tom. D. Morton and is a true asset to her association and to Texas REALTORS® statewide."

Tom D. Morton was the executive vice president of the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) for 20 years. During his tenure, he established standards for executive officers around the nation and as a way of honoring his dedication, the Texas Association of REALTORS® Executives Council and HAR established the Tom D. Morton Memorial Award. This honor recognizes association executives for their excellence, service to their members, personal and professional accomplishment, and achievements.
