Ready to add agents to your brokerage? Read this first

If you need help managing the growth of your brokerage, you may be moving quickly to sponsor an agent or two. Before you start recruiting, though, know your business goals and have plans for helping those agents succeed. Here are five steps for getting started.
- Define your company culture, values, and business goals. This important step will help you find agents whose skills align with those ideas.
- Outline your expectations for an agent. Be able to explain in detail what the position will entail.
- Provide training. Brand-new agents especially will benefit from continued education.
- Plan for communications and recognition. Make sure you’re checking in frequently and doing so face to face as often as possible. This is when you’ll find out what’s going well and what’s not working and have a chance to commend your agents for their excellent work.
- Be prepared for problems. Know how you’ll address issues and conflicts before they occur and determine how you’ll know when it’s time to part ways.
