You already use photos and video to market your business … but what about one-second videos on Snapchat and Instagram photos with hashtag captions? 

U.S. News and World Report recently explored how real estate agents are using these popular social media channels to reach the next generation of homebuyers. 

Here are a few tips to consider when incorporating these and other social media channels into your marketing plan.

Identify yourself. Be sure your profile says you’re a real estate agent or REALTOR® so followers think of you when they need real estate-related help.  

Use the features. Every social media channel has features you can use to show your social savvy and increase your reach. So don’t just post text or a photo—tag people in a Facebook post, include relevant hashtags on Instagram, tag your location on Twitter, etc.

Go behind-the-scenes. Don’t know what to post? Connect with followers through mutual interests or share candid shots from your unpredictable day.

Show off your marketing skills. Give prospective sellers an idea of how you market properties with attractive photos—and how theirs could be next.

But don’t just sell. Social media channels like Instagram and Snapchat are great for sharing photos and short videos, but they’re not the place to post a stream of listings.
