Why the Texas population is booming, and what we need to do about it
10/03/2014 | Author: Editorial Staff
More than half a million people moved to Texas last year. Subtract the number who left the Lone Star State, and there are still 138,057 more Texans than the previous year. That net gain is higher than any other state in the nation.
Why so much population growth? The biggest factors are jobs, a healthy economy, affordable housing, and the quality of life so many residents enjoy.
So many additional Texans year after year puts a strain on our infrastructure. To address that concern, the Texas Association of REALTORS® is asking voters to vote “yes” for Proposition 1, a statewide ballot measure that would provide more funding for transportation without more taxes, toll roads, or additional debt.
