Did you know the association formed before the first license was issued?
In 1911, the association’s precursor was formed: the Texas State Realty Association. It disappeared after war broke out in Europe.
On October 11, 1920, representatives from Abilene, Dallas, Denison, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio met to form the Texas Real Estate Boards Association. One of its first tasks was to lobby for a licensing bill.
The Real Estate Dealer’s License Act was passed in 1939 after lobbying by the newly renamed Texas Real Estate Association.
The first real estate license in Texas was issued to John Zeller, association president in 1938-1939. #ShapingTexas
