Inspect that new home

REAL TipS: BUYING

Inspect that new home

When buying a newly constructed home, it's a good idea to have your own home inspector inspect your new home throughout the construction process. Just because it’s a new home doesn’t mean there won’t be problems. Builders have their own inspectors; however, it's best to pay a little extra to be represented by an unbiased party who has your best interests in mind.

You should request that the inspector go through all the phases of the construction process. This means the inspector will make several trips to the location at various times of construction. The inspector will make sure the slab is properly poured and determine compliance with the plumbing, electrical, and structural codes, as well as other important construction details.
